RS33848 / H0966 This is a FY 2027 appropriation bill for the Idaho Department of Correction that addresses the fiscal impact of H684 of 2026. H684 added a new section of Idaho Code, 20-629, to authorize a sheriff's office to seek reimbursement for the costs of collecting a prisoner, probationer or parolee from out-of-state who has absconded from the supervision of the Idaho Department of Correction.

LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO Sixty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2026 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 966 BY APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE AN ACT1 RELATING TO THE APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION; APPROPRIAT-2 ING ADDITIONAL MONEYS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION FOR FISCAL YEAR3 2027; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.4
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:5
SECTION 1. In addition to any other appropriation provided by law,6 there is hereby appropriated to the Department of Correction in the County7 and Out-of-State Placement Program, $200,000 to be expended for operating8 expenditures from the General Fund for the period July 1, 2026, through June9 30, 2027.10
SECTION 2. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby11 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after12 July 1, 2026.13
