STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

This legislation adds two additional highway district commissioners to the current five for countywide highway districts. One of these two additional highway district commissioners will be appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, whiletheotherwillbeappointedbytheGovernor. Theseadditionalpositionswillhelpprovide for improved coordination with county and state governments.

This legislation does not raise or reduce revenues for any public funds. The two additional highway district commissioners will cost the highway district up to approximately $17,500 per year.
