Adds to existing law to provide for hunting as the state sport.

LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO Sixty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2026 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 652 BY RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE AN ACT1 RELATING TO STATE SYMBOLS; PROVIDING LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS AND INTENT;2 AMENDING CHAPTER 45, TITLE 67, IDAHO CODE, BY THE ADDITION OF A NEW3 SECTION 67-4517, IDAHO CODE, TO PROVIDE THAT HUNTING IS DESIGNATED AND4 DECLARED TO BE THE STATE SPORT OF THE STATE OF IDAHO; AND DECLARING AN5 EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.6

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:7

SECTION 1. LEGISLATIVE FINDINGS AND INTENT. The Legislature finds that8 the State of Idaho values the rights to hunt, fish, and trap and has enshrined9 such rights in the Constitution of the State of Idaho. The Legislature finds10 that the sport of hunting is historically and culturally representative of11 these traditions. As such, it is the intent of the Legislature to designate12 and declare hunting as the state sport of the State of Idaho.13

SECTION 2. That Chapter 45, Title 67, Idaho Code, be, and the same is14 hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des-15 ignated as Section 67-4517, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:16 67-4517. STATE SPORT DESIGNATED. Hunting is hereby designated and de-17 clared to be the state sport of the state of Idaho.18

SECTION 3. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby19 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after20 July 1, 2026.21
