STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

The purpose of this legislation is to repeal the last section of the county medical indigent program, which no longer exists (program repealed in HB735a in 2022). This section was left in to finish out the last of the program but is no longer needed.

LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO Sixty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2026 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 591 BY HEALTH AND WELFARE COMMITTEE AN ACT1 RELATING TO INDIGENT ELIGIBILITY; REPEALING SECTION 31-3502, IDAHO CODE,2 RELATING TO ELIGIBILITY FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE; AND DECLARING AN3 EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.4
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:5
SECTION 1. That Section 31-3502, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby6 repealed.7
SECTION 2. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby8 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after9 July 1, 2026.10
