LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO Sixty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2026 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 678 BY RESOURCES AND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE AN ACT1 RELATING TO TRAPPING; AMENDING CHAPTER 11, TITLE 36, IDAHO CODE, BY THE AD-2 DITION OF A NEW SECTION 36-1106, IDAHO CODE, TO ESTABLISH PROVISIONS RE-3 GARDING THE CHECKING OF TRAPS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING4 AN EFFECTIVE DATE.5
Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:6
SECTION 1. That Chapter 11, Title 36, Idaho Code, be, and the same is7 hereby amended by the addition thereto of a NEW SECTION, to be known and des-8 ignated as Section 36-1106, Idaho Code, and to read as follows:9 36-1106. CHECKING TRAPS. (1) A person setting or placing a trap or10 snare for gray wolf shall:11 (a) Inspect each trap and snare every seventy-two (72) hours; and12 (b) Act to promptly remove any catch therein.13 (2) To comply with subsection (1) of this section, a person may inspect14 such person's traps and snares by:15 (a) Visiting each trap and snare in person; or16 (b) Using a remote transmitting camera that has an unobstructed view of17 the trap or snare.18 (3) The commission may adopt rules, subject to legislative approval, to19 implement the provisions of this section.20
SECTION 2. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby21 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after22 July 1, 2026.23
