This legislation repeals Chapter 69, Chapter 76, and Chapter 77 of Title 18, Idaho Code, which address the Idaho Anti-Camcorder Piracy Act, the Tape Piracy Act, and the Motion Picture Fair Bidding Act. These provisions are outdated and no longer necessary for effective enforcement. Repealing these chapters removes obsolete statutes from Idaho Code and improves statutory clarity without impacting public safety.

LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF IDAHO Sixty-eighth Legislature Second Regular Session - 2026 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES HOUSE BILL NO. 580 BY JUDICIARY, RULES AND ADMINISTRATION COMMITTEE AN ACT1 RELATING TO CRIMES AND PUNISHMENTS; REPEALING CHAPTER 69, TITLE 18, IDAHO2 CODE, RELATING TO THE IDAHO ANTI-CAMCORDER PIRACY ACT; REPEALING CHAP-3 TER 76, TITLE 18, IDAHO CODE, RELATING TO THE TAPE PIRACY ACT; REPEALING4 CHAPTER 77, TITLE 18, IDAHO CODE, RELATING TO THE MOTION PICTURE FAIR5 BIDDING ACT; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE6 DATE.7

Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:8

SECTION 1. That Chapter 69, Title 18, Idaho Code, be, and the same is9 hereby repealed.10

SECTION 2. That Chapter 76, Title 18, Idaho Code, be, and the same is11 hereby repealed.12

SECTION 3. That Chapter 77, Title 18, Idaho Code, be, and the same is13 hereby repealed.14

SECTION 4. An emergency existing therefor, which emergency is hereby15 declared to exist, this act shall be in full force and effect on and after16 July 1, 2026.17
