Amends existing law to revise eligibility for receiving the homeowner's property tax reduction.
Many more Idahoans could benefit from property tax assistance than the state’s current “circuit-breaker” program permits. Additionally, new restrictions enacted in 2021 removed many seniors from the program based on their home value, even if they were low-income and their home was modest. This bill removes eligibility restrictions for the property tax reduction program (“circuit-breaker”) based on the value of the property as well as age limitations on the applicant so that Idahoans other than seniors may benefit. It increases the income limit to $50,000 per household.
